Human relationships continue to fascinate me and so does the constant cyclical occurrences of life. Why windows? Partially because I think they’re beautiful but then again a window is something meant to be looked through not always at. A window creates a space, an inside and an outside. This creation of space also creates narrative a creation of purpose of necessity or for enjoyment. We make windows to see what would otherwise be hidden. Aside from its functional aspects a window also creates perspective. What is in one side, may be of interest to us depending on what it may be. This being derived from our interactions with other humans and with nature.
The way my work is shifting currently is based on my subconscious manner of building things in a functional way mixed the strictly aesthetic aspects of the work. I am able to make work that looks as it is supposed to in my head but it is not often understood by others in the same way I see it. This is partially due to many of my works being inspired by personal events or occurrences both physically and mentally. This is because of a lack of separation that I have with the emotional and conceptual aspects of the work. Though I deal with broad subjects such as relationships or perception it is almost impossible to separate it from my own relationships and my own perceptions of occurrences in my life.
That being said what I want people to take from my work is a new intake on subject that can be very personal. Though a window might look the same to two people what is inside is very different due to what they perceive of the world. The purpose to my work is to create something people can connect to by filling the empty spaces with what makes up their personal lives. I desire to share these things in an interesting manner not often seeing things as they seem. The form materialization being my way of understanding certain things in life. I wish to share those ideas that in many ways give me faith in that which I don’t understand.
